Newsletter for Amelia Earhart for the Week of October 30th
1. Next week is Red Ribbon Week. This is a PTA-sponsored event to help us teach our students to say no to drugs. Here are the daily themes students are encouraged to participate in:
Monday: WEAR RED “Ready to be Drug Free”
Tuesday: WEAR COSTUMES “Say Boo to Drugs”
Wednesday: WEAR SHIRTS BACKWARDS “Turn your back on Drugs”
Thursday: WEAR SPORTS TEAM ATTIRE (t-shirts, jerseys, etc) “Team Up Against Drugs”
Friday: WEAR SCHOOL SHIRT “Aviators are proud to be Drug Free”
2. Our Halloween Parade will be on Tuesday, October 31st at 9:00 AM. Parents will go to the gym, and all students will march through the gym for parents and family to see. As a reminder, students may not wear any masks that block their identity or wear costumes with bloody or gruesome features.
3. Maria Hudson, our Counselor / Social Worker, is able to help families with a variety of needs. Please click on the link below to fill out a short survey if your family has any needs (e.g. holidays, food, clothing, housing, etc…) that Maria could possibly help with. Family Needs Survey
4. We are creating a video presentation in honor of Veterans Day on November 11. Any student who would like to include a family member who is a US military veteran in our presentation can send in a photo or video clip to be included. The veteran themself can even send in a short video greeting to the students at Amelia Earhart with a special shout-out to their student.
Please keep the video submission to under a minute in length, and only one video per family.
We can also create a still slide for the presentation with a photo, name, rank, branch of service, etc. of your veteran.
Please send all videos, photos, and questions to Mrs. Anderson at dianea@provo.edu no later than Monday, November 6. She will assemble all the clips together into a video that each class will show to their students on Friday, November 10.
This video will not be released on social media in order to protect the privacy of our veterans and their families.
