Several students in 1st through 5th grade participated in a book writing contest organized by Mrs. Elton and Mr. McCarty.  Students were encouraged to write and illustrate a book on their own. There were many great books  to choose from. The winners for each grade are Isaac – 1st Grade, Brinley; Peyton – 2nd Grade, Pace; Eva  – 3rd Grade, Tucker; Elizabeth  – 4th Grade, Lavallee; Samantha – 5th Grade, Dewey. Each of these winners will have their books sent to be published in a real book. Way to go Aviators!

Here at Amelia, we are fortunate to have Mrs. Elton, our full – time certified art teacher. Because of the Beverly Taylor-Sorenson Art program, every student has the opportunity to create art connected to their core standards in Mrs. Elton’s art room. Students in our extension program have the opportunity to come during differentiated literacy time to work on connecting literacy to art.  We have loved seeing the creative and beautiful projects they create!
