We want students at our school to be immersed in a culture of literacy. We want to have quality books available at all times. Students will be reading carefully chosen books that will inspire a life-long habit of reading. They will then have opportunities to engage with fellow students, teachers, and parents in thought-provoking comprehension discussions and activities. Our goal is not necessarily that every child is going to love reading, but that every child makes progress in a positive way. We want to see kids interested in engaging with text! “Incremental movement in a positive direction is our ultimate goal.”
Superintendent Wendy Dau featured the Earhart Literacy Community on her “Sup With the Sup” podcast on September 22, 2023. You can listen to it on the district’s YouTube channel. The section about Amelia Earhart begins at the 2:42 mark.
