Amelia Earhart Elementary School

“Debbie is a source of wisdom and compassion,” shared Education Support Professional Kari Connor. “Students understand that Mrs. Larson is fair and always there to give helpful feedback no matter the situation.

These words reflect the incredible impact of Debbie Larson, Amelia Earhart Elementary’s Behavior Specialist, who was recently honored with the Provo Way Award. This recognition from the Provo City School District and Board of Education celebrates individuals who create safe and inclusive spaces for students to grow, learn, and thrive.

As a long-tenured member of Amelia staff, and a leader of the school’s “Reflection Room,” Debbie is a pillar founding Amelia Earhart as a stable and safe space, a place where students can reflect on their choices.

Debbie is loved by staff and students alike.

“She is fair, and always gives thoughtful feedback, no matter the situation,” Kari shared. “Students trust her because they know she listens and wants to help them learn from their mistakes.”

Considering her role, Debbie has a well-honed ability to prevent repeated behavioral incidents by fostering respect and accountability. “The faculty at Amelia admire Debbie for her wisdom and suggestions in proactively guiding students from repeating incidents, all because of her incredible way of showing compassion, understanding, and her strong moral compass.”

Congratulations, Debbie, on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for your invaluable service to the Amelia Earhart community.Mrs. Larson receives Provo Way Award
