On May 21st, Amelia Earhart Elementary’s student body, faculty, and staff cheered three sets of Amelia Earhart graduates as they paraded through the classroom halls. The parade began with Provo High School Seniors, all dressed in graduation robes, cords, and honors, starting their procession through the familiar halls for the last time.
The kindergarten students in Mrs. Holman’s, Mrs. Searcy’s, and Mrs. Tydryszewski’s classes celebrated graduation, marking their first big step toward high school graduation in 2036! The kindergarten class proudly sang “Aviators Rise,” our school’s song about Respect, Integrity, Safety, and Empathy. They entertained the audience with a performance of their favorite JELLO song and ended with the First Grade Anthem as they look ahead to the exciting adventures waiting in first grade. Their graduation ended with refreshments and photo opportunities on the kindergarten playground.
We can’t wait to see all they’ll achieve in the years to come. Congratulations, Class of 2036—your journey has just begun!

The final graduation walk and ceremony for Amelia Earhart Elementary sixth-grade classes of Mrs. Walton and Mrs. Arnold. The Master of Ceremonies honor was given to. Logan Maehl. The graduation program included awards, speakers, and musical numbers before the presentation of the graduates.
The Kiwanis service organization presented the Hope of America Awards to the following students: Isaac Hoehne, Gisela Lozano, Jessie Riessen, Landon Phillips, Mateo Perez Galaviz, and Josie Skeen.
Mrs. Walton and Mrs. Arnold recognized Emmalyn Fracom and Titus Quinn as recipients of the Amelia Earhart Elementary Resilience Award.
Different student groups provided the following musical numbers: The National Anthem by a sixth-grade ensemble, Aloha ‘Oe with the ukulele music class providing accompaniment, and Humble and Kind, performed in American Sign Language.
Principal McCarty welcomed the graduates and the audience members. The following four graduates were honored to speak to their classmates and parents: Elizabeth Morris, Lachie Greer, Emmi Martin, and Jaicee Adams. Holly Reeves was selected to share a special thanks from the sixth graders to Mr. McCarty, who has been Amelia Earhart’s principal for the last eleven years and will be moving to Provo Peaks Elementary for the 2025-26 school year. Holly’s kindergarten memory of Mr. McCarty was that he was a really tall principal.
Mrs. Roberts, the current school librarian, announced each graduate as they walked across the stage to receive their certificates from their teachers.
“It’s about the journey, not the destination.” This journey with you has been among the greatest of my life. You are bright, brilliant, resilient, kind, loving kids. You have really come together as one, and created something special! Never lose it! I have no doubt you will be some of the greatest leaders of your generation. Never give up, never let down, and just do it! Make your dreams come true! I love you! –Mrs. Walton
“Sow an act, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.” You have created some great habits this year that will be helpful to your future. Collaboration and friendship has been a driving force. Continue to pursue who you want to become. I have been amazed at your growth, tenacity, and grit! You will reach the destiny you dream of! It has been an honor teaching each of you. I love your guts!
