Regular School Schedule Begins

Next week, we will begin our regular schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM—3:20 PM, and Friday, 8:30 AM—1:30 PM (8:40 AM is the late bell each day).

Musical Theater

The after-school Musical Theatre program will perform Disney’s Beauty & the Beast Jr. Rehearsals for tryouts start Monday, August 19th. The participation application must be filled out before students can participate. Click here to complete the online application for your child.

Preschool – Flight School

On a preschool waiting list? Not sure what to do for preschool? Amelia has a preschool option called Flight School. It’s free and for 3-4 year olds. Check out our Flight School website.    If you’d like to visit a class or you have questions, you can contact the director, Emma Hoskisson by calling the school, texting 801-210-8104, or emailing emmah@provo.edu.

Vision Screening

It has been estimated that as much as 80% of learning occurs visually. Vision disorders are the fourth most common childhood disability in the United States, with one in four children having an undiagnosed vision problem. Our school is committed to ensuring that every student is healthy and ready to learn.

In support of our commitment to promoting healthy learners, our school nurse and trained volunteers will conduct school-wide distance vision screening on the morning of September 9th, 2024. If your child wears glasses or contacts, please have them wear them on the day of the screening.

A child’s vision can change as they grow, therefore it is important that students receive regular screenings to identify those that might need to be seen by an eye care professional. 

Early detection and treatment of a vision problem are critical to your child’s educational success, health, and well-being. You will be notified if your student does not pass the vision screening after rescreening.

Although school screenings are important, a comprehensive eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist is the gold standard.

If you do not want your child to participate, complete the opt-out form (below) and return it to your child’s teacher before September 9th, 2024. We look forward to ensuring that every child is healthy and ready to learn.

Preescolar – Flight School

¿En lista de espera para preescolar? ¿No está seguro de qué hacer para el preescolar? Amelia tiene una opción preescolar llamada Flight School. Es gratis y para niños de 3-4 años. Examen de Vision Gratuito

Se calcula que hasta el 80% del aprendizaje se produce visualmente. En la actualidad, los trastornos visuales son la cuarta discapacidad infantil más común en Estados Unidos, ya que uno de cada cuatro niños tiene un problema visual sin diagnosticar. Nuestra escuela se compromete a garantizar que todos los alumnos estén sanos y preparados para aprender.

En apoyo de nuestro compromiso de promover estudiantes sanos, nuestra enfermera de la escuela junto con voluntarios entrenados conducirá la revisión de la visión a distancia en toda la escuela la mañana del 9 de septiembre de 2024. Si su hijo usa anteojos o lentes de contacto, por favor pídales que los usen el día del examen.

La visión de un niño puede cambiar a medida que crecen, por lo tanto, es importante que los estudiantes reciban exámenes regulares para identificar a aquellos que podrían necesitar ser vistos por un profesional del cuidado de los ojos. 

La detección y el tratamiento tempranos de un problema de visión son fundamentales para el éxito educativo, la salud y el bienestar de su hijo. Se le notificará si su hijo no pasa la revisión visual después del proceso de revisión.

Aunque las revisiones escolares son importantes, un examen completo de la vista realizado por un optometrista u oftalmólogo es el estándar de oro.

Si no desea que su hijo participe, complete el formulario de exclusión (abajo) y devuélvalo al maestro de su hijo antes del 9 de septiembre de 2024. Esperamos asegurarnos de que todos los niños estén sanos y listos para aprender.
