Our October Earhart Literacy Community books launched this week and we have some spooky selections for our Halloween month.
“I Need My Monster” by Amanda Noll is our book for our lower grade classes. It’s a nice twist on the monster-under-the-bed classic: a boy discovers that his monster has gone fishing for a week, and calls in a series of replacement monsters. The idea is that the boy needs a scary monster under his bed to keep him from getting out of bed. He can’t fall asleep without one.
“School of the Dead” by Avi is our book of the month for our upper-grade classes. This is a spine-tingling story of Tony Gilbert, who must solve a mystery surrounding the ghost of his uncle Charlie.
If you’re looking for some great books to read with your students, these are two that will for sure get you in the Halloween spirit! Happy reading, Aviators!
