Miss Rachel Kovacs, a second-grade teacher at Amelia Earhart Elementary, was recognized by the PTA as an outstanding teacher who has positively influenced students’ growth and learning. When Principal McCarty announced to Miss Kovac’s students that their teacher received the Golden Apple Award, they all cheered and clapped. Then PTA President Jordan Gaines presented the Golden Apple and a basketful of other special goodies from generous donors.

Miss Kovacs has been teaching for 13 years at Amelia Earhart. She enjoys how warm, welcoming and friendly her students are with one another.  They like to have fun together. The current class favorite read-aloud has been “Rory, the Remarkable Dragon.” However, Rory isn’t like the other dragons, in fact Rory looks more like a chicken. The 2nd-graders had much to laugh and talk about with this story.

Miss Kovacs is a caring educator. Who realizes that her students are learning new things, and sometimes, these things seem beyond their current ability. She advises her students to “Take a deep breath and try your best.”

In her free time, Miss Kovacs loves reading and watching movies. She is a football fan, but only for her favorite teams. Hint: She is a season football ticket holder for BYU.

Congratulations Miss Kovacs, the 2024-2025 Golden Apple Teacher!
